Comfort Food

Happy Monday!! Hope everyone had a great weekend, mine was rainy and it’s still raining…that only means one thing, comfort food!!!
This morning I worked out, I am on day 23 of my 30 day shred!! Feeling great, just wish I saw more of a difference in my muscle tone. Patience…I have none! lol For breakfast I had Multi Grain Cheerios and Kashi GO Lean with some strawberries. And for a snack I had a Kashi bar, Honey Almond Flax…

For lunch I made a hummus, tomato and basil sandwich on whole wheat roll along with some carrot/celery sticks and brown rice chips. And for my afternoon snack I had a handful of almonds, grapes and laughing cow cheese…

By dinnertime I was craving some comfort food, with all this cool rainy weather we have been having so for me that’s a big ol’ serving of pasta with lots of tomatoes, garlic and basil and garlic bread, of course! :)

I had 2 servings and NO SALAD!!!  Just sayin’!! ;)
Tomorrow will be the last day I have quality time with my girls,  day care kids are back on Wednesday and they start back to school next week! :(  Booooo!!!!

What is your favorite comfort food?

  1. looks like you had a pretty good eating day....it has been raining here all evening, and yesterday most of the day....I know we need the rain, but I would like to see some sun too!
hope you get to have some fun with your kids before school starts!

  2. My favorite comfort food is definitely some kind of pasta, like mac and cheese, baked ziti or lasagna! On a sidenote, I love that you mix up your cereal. I have a hard time eating Kashi alone so I mix it up with Special K flakes and/or multi-grain Cheerios...and of course some fruit!

  3. As crazy as it sounds, that cereal with strawberries looks pretty wonderful to me right now. A gigantic bowl of cold cereal is tops on my comfort food list right now.

Normally, I'd probably say baked macaroni and cheese (though I haven't had it in a decade), any sort of ice cream, Chinese take-out broccoli, peanut butter smoothies... OK, this is me stopping before I go wandering into the kitchen in search of all of these.

  4. I love Kashi products. Let's see, not sure what my comfort food would be now. Do Cheetos count ;-)

i love pasta & tomato sauce for comfort food, too. i also think warm bowls of oatmeal are very comforting, though maybe not in the tradition "comfort food" sense :P

  11. It's hard to believe summer's winding down already! I, too, am craving comfort food and I'm sure the weather has something to do with it. Few things beat a big bowl of pasta with tomatoes! :)

  15. You must be in my area, because it's been raining here in New England for four days now! We needed that rain about a month ago. Oh well.
My fave comfort food, which is basically off limits to me now...a big honkin' Rueben sandwich, piled high with corned beef!
