Comfort Food

Happy Monday!! Hope everyone had a great weekend, mine was rainy and it’s still raining…that only means one thing, comfort food!!!
This morning I worked out, I am on day 23 of my 30 day shred!! Feeling great, just wish I saw more of a difference in my muscle tone. Patience…I have none! lol For breakfast I had Multi Grain Cheerios and Kashi GO Lean with some strawberries. And for a snack I had a Kashi bar, Honey Almond Flax…
For lunch I made a hummus, tomato and basil sandwich on whole wheat roll along with some carrot/celery sticks and brown rice chips. And for my afternoon snack I had a handful of almonds, grapes and laughing cow cheese…
By dinnertime I was craving some comfort food, with all this cool rainy weather we have been having so for me that’s a big ol’ serving of pasta with lots of tomatoes, garlic and basil and garlic bread, of course! :)
I had 2 servings and NO SALAD!!!  Just sayin’!! ;)
Tomorrow will be the last day I have quality time with my girls,  day care kids are back on Wednesday and they start back to school next week! :(  Booooo!!!!

What is your favorite comfort food?

  1. looks like you had a pretty good eating has been raining here all evening, and yesterday most of the day....I know we need the rain, but I would like to see some sun too!
hope you get to have some fun with your kids before school starts!

  2. My favorite comfort food is definitely some kind of pasta, like mac and cheese, baked ziti or lasagna! On a sidenote, I love that you mix up your cereal. I have a hard time eating Kashi alone so I mix it up with Special K flakes and/or multi-grain Cheerios...and of course some fruit!

  3. As crazy as it sounds, that cereal with strawberries looks pretty wonderful to me right now. A gigantic bowl of cold cereal is tops on my comfort food list right now.

Normally, I'd probably say baked macaroni and cheese (though I haven't had it in a decade), any sort of ice cream, Chinese take-out broccoli, peanut butter smoothies... OK, this is me stopping before I go wandering into the kitchen in search of all of these.

  4. I love Kashi products. Let's see, not sure what my comfort food would be now. Do Cheetos count ;-)

  5. that Kashi bar looks really good - i've never seen that flavor before! and your sandwich - i have been LOVING fresh tomato sandwiches lately.
i love pasta & tomato sauce for comfort food, too. i also think warm bowls of oatmeal are very comforting, though maybe not in the tradition "comfort food" sense :P
thanks for dropping by my blog - yours is awesome, too!! lovely food, i want to eat it all!

  6. Definitely a homemade Italian dinner with lots of pasta and bread! I love making a big pot of sauce and having it for meals throughout the week.

  7. mac n cheese baby, mac n cheese :) sometimes i just can't get enough of it! :)

  8. Pasta is always a great comfort food but I also love a good roast with potatoes and carrots. Yum!

  9. Very yummy! I'm so glad I found your blog through "Food Buzz". I'm a huge fan of Ellie Krieger also! Love her food! It's so family friendly. ~Take Care...

  10. Your dinner looks absolutely amazing! Sometimes it's so worth skipping the salad lol.

  11. It's hard to believe summer's winding down already! I, too, am craving comfort food and I'm sure the weather has something to do with it. Few things beat a big bowl of pasta with tomatoes! :)

  12. I think the Kashi products look great but we don't have them in the UK. :(

  13. I actually am liking the rain and actually being able to open my windows with the cool air!!

My favorite comfort food is a yummy pasta dish, or some warm millet toast with AB and Jam and some warm ginger tea!

  14. Almonds, Laughing Cow, and grapes is one of my favorite snacks - I love taking bites of this or that and mixing together! I haven't had it in a while but your photo just reminded me I need to get on

Indian Food is definitely my favorite comfort food - so warm and hearty, I love it!

  15. You must be in my area, because it's been raining here in New England for four days now! We needed that rain about a month ago. Oh well.
My fave comfort food, which is basically off limits to me now...a big honkin' Rueben sandwich, piled high with corned beef!
